Personal Testimony: Moravian Falls
Alvin Reed's account of November 10, 2019
This is one documented requirement within the current total of 290. It contributes no mathematical pattern or numerical probability.
Why this testimony is included
The formal Theory of Biblical Patterns challenge is primarily computational and reproducible. My experience at Moravian Falls is different. It is included because it had lasting personal and spiritual significance for my wife and me and became part of the history of this project.
The former version of this page divided later numerical and geographic observations into eight “Angel patterns.” Those observations are no longer counted as mathematical requirements. Nested geographic descriptions, retrospective numerical relationships, search-engine rankings, and personally selected numbers are not independent evidence.
Events leading to Moravian Falls
My wife and I attended a Christian conference near Hickory and Newton, North Carolina. The conference theme, “Watchman Arise,” felt closely connected to the theme of this website. During the early morning of Sunday, November 10, 2019, my wife believed that God directed us to be at Moravian Falls at exactly 1:30 p.m.
We did not know why we were going. We arrived in the area early and returned to the falls shortly before 1:30.
What I remember seeing
At approximately 1:29 p.m., I looked at the clock on my phone. I then prepared the phone to take pictures of the falls. At about 1:30, I saw an unusually vivid form above the water that I interpreted as an angel. My wife and a young girl were also present and, in my recollection, regarded the sight as extraordinary.
The clearest view was with my eyes before I finished preparing the camera. By the time I took the photograph, the form was already dispersing and fading. It was gone within the next few minutes. My wife and I took several photographs on two phones.

What the photograph can and cannot show
The photograph shows a light-colored form near the falls. My interpretation is that it records part of what I experienced as an angelic appearance. Other viewers may reasonably consider mist, water, reflected light, camera effects, perspective, or another natural explanation.
I did not see projection equipment, and the image appeared to me to hover across the water rather than behave like an ordinary reflection. Nevertheless, the photograph alone cannot eliminate every natural explanation. It also does not preserve the clarity and detail that I remember seeing directly.
Other details that were meaningful to us
| Detail | Why it mattered to us |
|---|---|
| The 1:30 p.m. timing | My wife had identified that specific time before we arrived, and the appearance occurred at approximately that time. |
| Other people at the falls | A group was praying near the base of the falls, and a young girl was among those present. |
| Conversation with the family | Several personal connections mentioned in the conversation felt striking to us, including shared geographic associations. |
| A fragrance noticed afterward | Several people present reported noticing a lavender-like fragrance. We interpreted it spiritually, although its physical source was not established. |
| Seven photographs on two phones | The short series helped us remember the event's progression, although the photographs do not reproduce the full visual experience we recall. |
Seven later coordinate-related confirmations
After the event, I identified seven separate numerical or documentary relationships that I believe pointed to the exact latitude and longitude of the appearance. Those later findings became an important part of how I understood the experience. I am not publishing their detailed calculations on this page, in part because some of the source information is personal.
Records supporting most of the seven relationships have been retained and, if genuinely necessary, could be submitted for examination by the challenge judges or in a formal evidentiary setting. Because the relationships were recognized after the event and involve personally selected information, they are presented as corroborating parts of my testimony—not as seven independent mathematical patterns and not as seven separately multiplied probabilities.
Scriptural meaning
Ezekiel 43:2: “And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east: and his voice was like a noise of many waters: and the earth shined with his glory.”
Acts 5:12: “And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people.”
These passages shaped how my wife and I understood the experience. They are included as part of our interpretation, not as proof that every unusual photograph or coincidence has a supernatural cause.
The personal-experience counterpart
A claimant seeking the complete reward must submit a truthful personal experience that all three approved judges unanimously consider reasonably comparable in significance, specificity, documentation, and personal impact. The experience does not need to be religious or interpreted as supernatural.
The submission should include, when available:
- A detailed first-person account with the date and general location.
- An explanation of why the experience was significant at the time, rather than only after later searching.
- Contemporaneous photographs, messages, notes, records, or other documentation.
- Independent witnesses or corroborating evidence.
- Disclosure of plausible ordinary explanations, uncertainties, and any edits made to submitted material.
My conclusion
I continue to regard what happened at Moravian Falls as a deeply meaningful spiritual experience. I believe that my wife and I were led there and that the timing and appearance were significant. By presenting it as testimony rather than a mathematical proof, I hope readers can understand what I experienced without being asked to treat my interpretation as an independently verified scientific conclusion.
